Brno - The construction of a children's hospice in Brno for more than 159 million crowns will begin in the summer. The work will last for 15 months. The building will offer 10 rooms for clients. There will also be facilities for the parents and siblings of the children. The hospice serves for the care of those who are severely or incurably ill.

Brno city councilors have today selected the company Unistav Construction, which will build the hospice. The three-story building will be located in the Kociánka area, near a retirement home. It will have an inner courtyard and will be integrated into the surrounding garden. In addition to respite stay services, the facility will offer a wide range of therapeutic services, including psychological, social, and spiritual support. It is also expected to include a day care center. "The city joined the children's hospice project last year when it became the investor for the construction. Thanks to the fact that we took over the completed project documentation from the non-profit organization House for Julia, the entire preparation was simpler," stated Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková.

The construction is the responsibility of the city, while the hospice will be operated by the organization House for Julia. "Children's palliative care is just beginning in the Czech Republic, so the establishment of the home represents a significant milestone. The costs will be covered by a grant worth 92 million. The remaining amount will come from the city budget," said Hladík.
