Benešov - In Benešov, a large reconstruction of the bus station is being prepared for 100 million crowns. According to the town hall, the current facilities no longer meet the needs of passengers. A study for the project has been completed, and work is now underway on the documentation for the zoning decision, that is, the decision on the location of the building, said Mayor Jaroslav Hlavnička (Election for the City) to ČTK. The city wants to obtain funding for the project from the European Union, from so-called Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) within the metropolitan area of Prague. "The estimate is around 100 million. But this is a rough estimate based on the study, which will of course be refined in the following stages," the mayor stated. To increase safety, there are plans to extend the underpass from the train station to the bus station, among other things. A separate exit from the underpass is also expected to lead to the future parking garage, which is set to be built on the land next to the train station. It is intended to serve as a park-and-ride facility for motorists who transfer to trains or buses in the city. Bus stations are also being modernized in other Central Bohemian towns. For example, the station in Příbram has received a new look. Renovations are also planned in Kolín, where the bus station is considered architecturally compromised and does not form a functional whole, according to the town hall.
