Pardubice - The University of Pardubice today opened a new teaching center in the Polabiny campus. It was created by modernizing and expanding an outdated and no longer used building of the Faculty of Transport's heavy laboratories. The renovated building primarily serves the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Economics and Administration, and the Faculty of Transport, the university's spokesperson Valerie Wágnerová informed CTK.

"The construction, including modern multimedia equipment for classrooms and lecture halls, cost almost 110 million crowns excluding VAT," Wágnerová stated. The school obtained most of the funds for the renovations from the Operational Program Research and Development for Innovation.
On the first floor, two large lecture halls, four smaller lecture rooms, five language laboratories, and three computer laboratories are available for students. All teaching spaces are equipped with above-standard presentation technology. The second floor serves as a space for doctoral students and university staff, featuring a meeting room and four offices.
An integral part of the teaching complex is an atrium with greenery, a summer terrace, and refreshments. It is also complemented by the Václav Havel Bench designed by architect Bořek Šípek.
With the start of the new academic year, the university's research materials center in the city center also began operating. The modernization of the oldest university campus, its courtyard structure, cost 76.1 million crowns excluding VAT. Additionally, the building is equipped with modern devices for materials research worth 36.2 million crowns excluding VAT. Materials research has a long-standing tradition in Pardubice, and the Faculty of Chemical Technology is one of the leading institutions in this field. The reconstructed large lecture hall primarily serves the education of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
