Prague - A bus terminal, a park-and-ride facility, and a pedestrian bridge will be constructed at Smíchov railway station, allowing direct access to the platforms. This is stated in a study commissioned by the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR), which is available to ČTK. The construction is part of an overall transformation of Smíchov railway station, where a new neighborhood with residential buildings, office spaces, and a school is planned to be developed in the coming years. The investor is the Sekyra Group. The study has already been discussed by IPR with Prague 5 and local residents.

In the first phase, the bridge that currently leads from the existing outlet of Radlická Street over the tracks will be relocated. People will be able to descend or come down via escalators to the platform from the new location.

In the next phase, a parking garage and a bus terminal will be built across the tracks from the existing station building. Suburban and long-distance bus lines will be routed here. According to the architects' plans, suburban bus lines and part of the public transport lines will gradually be transferred from the Na Knížecí bus station, although some routes will stop in front of the station building.

Buses serving public transport will continue to operate at Na Knížecí, but there will be no final stop or parking facility there. The number of buses ending at Na Knížecí is expected to be gradually reduced to about half. A new public building is planned to be constructed on part of the current bus station site. In the past, there were discussions about the municipal authority potentially having one of its offices there. However, no specific proposals have been approved.

In the third phase of the transformation, a bus terminal with an entrance from Nádražní Street will be constructed above the tracks. If the terminal is built above the tracks, the suburban bus stand at Na Knížecí will cease to exist. The modern terminal will be located over the tracks and partially above the existing station building.

Changes are also expected for the main building of Smíchov railway station. It will be restored to its original form. Extensions with food, alcohol, and other goods stalls that are located in front of the building towards the tram stops will be demolished.

The Smíchov City project on the site of the former Smíchov freight station could commence construction by the end of this year. The first phase involves 25,000 square meters and includes three separate buildings near the Na Knížecí bus station. They are expected to be completed in two years. The overall project covers 216,099 square meters of land and could be finished in about 12 to 15 years. It is planned to house up to 3,300 residents.
