In Malče, artists are beginning to build experimental stoves and beehives

Maleč (Havlíčkobrodsko) - In the rural center of imagination, which has been operating since last year in the village of Hranice near Maleč, artistic workshops focused on experimental heating and unconventional beehives started today. Interested participants can join the construction of stoves until Thursday. Afterward, unusual beehives will be created in the former cow shed, with the help of both local and foreign beekeepers and artists. The entire program will last until Sunday, said Lenka Dolanová from the organizing association yo-yo to ČTK today.
The century-old cow shed in Hranice is being transformed into a cultural and ecological center thanks to the care of young artists, curators, and cultural organizers. Their association is renovating the empty building and organizing various experimental projects.
Participants in the workshops will create ecological stoves by connecting two barrels. Such stoves will then be used to heat the former cow shed. "They should also serve as inspiration for others," Dolanová noted.
At the end of the week, the program will focus on beekeeping. People can, for example, try building hives in the shape of a book, based on the design by Swiss beekeeper Huber from 1789. "The frames in this hive can be turned like pages in a book," Dolanová explained. The workshops will be led by beekeeper Jiří Málek from Libice nad Doubravou, and artists from Belgium and the Netherlands who are inspired by beekeeping will also participate. Participants will be able to take the created hives home. Some of the creations will expand this year's newly established bee garden at the former cow shed.
Interested parties can also join the creation of a short radio play under the guidance of Johana Švarcová starting Friday. The workshops begin at 11:00, and they are freely accessible to the public. The project also includes a screening of a film about bees, excursions to local beekeepers, and a Saturday concert by the band Kamna ze sudů.
