Litomyšl (Svitavsko) - Today's opening date for the indoor swimming pool in Litomyšl in the Svitavy region is preliminarily postponed to November 5. The city still needs to select an operator, among other things. Pavel Chadima, head of the Department of Development and Investments, told ČTK.
"The occupancy permit has not yet been issued. The health department requires a trial operation from us. The council also needs to issue an intention for the lease, which must be posted on the notice board for 15 days, after which the councilors will decide on the tenant. Only then can the pool be opened," Chadima said.
The November 5 deadline can only be met if everything goes smoothly. The existing council will be able to announce the tender, but the new council might have to choose the contractor, if coalition negotiations are expedited.
"The opening date of October 19, mentioned at the beginning, could not be met," stated Karel Kalousek, director of municipal services. The municipal company could operate the pool.
The local government began considering the construction of an indoor pool ten years ago. Preparations started in 2006, and construction began last summer. It cost 116 million crowns and is being co-funded by the European Union. The facility includes a 25-meter long pool with five lanes, a smaller non-swimming children's pool, a whirlpool pool, and a slide with a total length of 64 meters.
"At the open house day, it became clear that people are very interested in the pool. It has been talked about for many years," said Deputy Mayor Josef Janeček.
