Litomyšl (Svitavy Region) - Litomyšl in the Svitavy region has completed its swimming pool. The city hall started considering its construction ten years ago. Preparations began in 2006, and the actual construction started last summer. The public can come to see the facility on October 12 during an open house. Michaela Severová, the spokesperson for the city, informed ČTK about this.
"The pool will be launched into test operation on this day. If everything goes well, the pool could be open as early as Tuesday, October 19. The latest possible date is November 1," said the spokesperson.
The construction costs changed several times. The pool was initially supposed to cost 70 million crowns, later the city hall raised the limit to 100 million crowns, and eventually, the total climbed to 240 million crowns. Since the city wanted to obtain European subsidies, it readjusted the final cost to 183 million crowns. Ultimately, the builder completed the pool for 116 million crowns. The city hall now expects that half of the amount will be covered by subsidies from the European Union.
The swimming pool is located on the site of former tennis courts, with additional sports facilities around, such as a city stadium, outdoor courts, and an inflatable hall. The facility will offer a swimming lane of 25 meters, a non-swimming pool, a children's pool, a hot tub, a 64-meter slide, and an outdoor pool.
