Šternberk (Olomoucko) - The Šternberk town hall will offer an attractive two-hectare plot above the hospital to developers in a competition. It is anticipated that about 20 family houses will be built in a uniform architectural style on the elevated site above the town. Mayor Jaromír Sedlák told journalists today that this aims to avoid the folk creativity of builders in the exclusive location.

The plot is close to the forest and offers all amenities within 200 meters, from schools and hospitals to shops and sports facilities. The minimum price per square meter of land is set at 550 crowns. "Besides the price for the plot, the decisive criterion will also be the architectural solution, but the price is not crucial for us; the important aspect is the aesthetic one," noted Sedlák.
The head of the city property management department, Miroslav Fiala, stated that the winning proposal will serve as a basis for developing a regulatory plan. This will be a binding construction document under which the interested party will develop the area. The submission deadline is May 15, and the winner will be approved by the council in June. Sedlák acknowledged that the future homeowners will face an increase in construction costs through the developer.
People have reportedly shown interest in the site above the town for decades. The lack of infrastructure has so far prevented its transformation into building plots. Networks are now brought to the foot of the two-hectare plot. The town hall paid approximately nine million crowns for the water supply connection.
The town also has two other locations available for the construction of family houses. The smallest of them, named Polní, is designated for individual builders, while the Vinný vrch location, exceeding six hectares, is expected to combine private and developer housing. The town hall is also counting on apartment construction. According to Sedlák, around two hundred apartments should be created in the town during his tenure as mayor.
