The Building of the Year in the Karlovy Vary Region is Aquaforum Františkovy Lázně

Karlovy Vary - The winner of the sixth year of the Building of the Year 2006 competition in the Karlovy Vary region is the Aquaforum in Františkovy Lázně, which won both the expert jury and public voting. The complex with six pools also received the governor's award. The competition was part of the For Arch Karlovy Vary construction exhibition, which ended over the weekend. The main prize for the best exhibit among 108 exhibitors was awarded to the building materials manufacturer Lias Vintířov. This was communicated to ČTK by Anna Vlášková from the organizing regional construction association Karlovy Vary.
    The victory of Aquaforum, the construction of which cost about 400 million crowns and was invested by the company Lázně Františkovy Lázně, did not surprise builders much. The opinion of experts was confirmed by the public, which awarded Aquaforum 4841 points in an online vote. The expert jury awarded second place in the competition to the new building of the regional library and the road bypass of Ostrov in Karlovy Vary. No third place was awarded. An honorable mention goes to the golf complex near Sokolov.
    "In the voting, the public placed the victorious Františkovy Lázně Aquaforum in second place, followed by the reconstruction of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Andělská Hora in third place, and the restored memorial sites and viewpoints in Mariánské Lázně," noted Vlášková.
    The Building of the Year competition in the Karlovy Vary region took place at the internet address http://stavby.karlovarska.net. After this year's edition, a total of 167 buildings, studies, and projects submitted to the competition in the previous six editions can be viewed on the site. According to the chairman of the regional construction association Vladimír Kádě, this creates a unique and publicly accessible collection of buildings or projects that have been developed in recent years in the Karlovy Vary region.
