Teplice - The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) is preparing a reconstruction of the station buildings in the Ústí nad Labem Region. The most expensive and demanding will be the renovation of the listed main train station building in Teplice. Work could begin in two years. This was stated by SŽDC spokesperson Kateřina Šubová.

Repairs will also affect the station in Litoměřice, Děčín, Chomutov, Rumburk, and Bílina this year. "Generally, this will involve the replacement of windows and doors, roof repairs, facades," Šubová said. SŽDC will spend about 36.5 million crowns on the repairs.

Comprehensive renovations of the station buildings are being prepared this year. Among the largest are the repairs of stations in Teplice, Most, Roudnice nad Labem, Benešov nad Ploučnicí, Krásná Lípa, and Bílina. "We anticipate costs for the reconstruction of these stations to reach up to 497 million crowns," the spokesperson said.

The largest share of the planned nearly half a billion is allocated for the listed station building in Teplice. The cost estimate is currently over 200 million crowns. "The project will be consulted with heritage experts and the realistic date for the start of work is in 2019," the spokesperson noted. The original neo-Romanesque building dates back to 1858. The station gradually expanded with additional buildings and at the turn of the century, it no longer served only transportation, but balls were also held in one of its halls.

In terms of the scale of construction and the amount, the renovation of the Teplice station building ranks among the largest projects after the main train stations in Prague, Pardubice, and Plzeň.

In Teplice, the facade, roof, installations, interior, and operational and commercial spaces will be renovated. These are very spacious in Teplice, and SŽDC will negotiate their use with representatives of the Office for the Representation of the State in Property Matters, according to Šubová.
