The Doubravka observation tower in Prague's Černý Most survived the fire as well

Prague - In the nature park Čihadla in Prague's Černý Most, people have been able to climb the 23.5-meter-high lookout tower Doubravka since June 15, 2018, to explore not only the surroundings of the eastern edge of the capital but also a large part of Prague. The experimental observation tower shaped like a three-sided pyramid was designed by architect Martin Rajniš, and the construction used seven kilometers of acacia wood. There are 98 steps leading to the top of the lookout tower.

The Doubravka tower was initiated by the City District of Prague 14, which is also the owner of the construction. The lookout tower was mostly financed by a private company, but people could also support the construction by purchasing steps. In addition to acacia wood, the tower is made of larch and steel elements. A year and a half after its opening, Doubravka suffered from a fire whose perpetrator was never found, but fortunately it did not cause irreparable damage. Repairs cost approximately 800,000 crowns.

The tower in Černý Most is not the only significant building by Martin Rajniš in Prague. In the 1970s, he was involved in the construction of the Máj department store on Národní street, and in 2016 he contributed to the project of the airship Guliver, which is part of the DOX Center for Contemporary Art. The year before last, the capital city awarded Rajniš, who also designed the new post office building on Sněžka, a commemorative silver medal for significant lifetime architectural work connected with Prague.
