Pardubice - The reconstruction of the historically protected Machoň Passage in the center of Pardubice will be completed in November. It will not be delayed by a dispute with businessman Miloš Holeček, who prevented the construction company from accessing the construction site through his property. Aleš Kopecký from the Municipal Development Fund Pardubice, which is the investor of the repairs, told ČTK this. "I expect that the construction should be approved at the beginning of December and the passage will start to function normally," Kopecký said. The passage was created according to the design of architect Ladislav Machoň in the 1920s. The reconstruction is divided into two phases. It was estimated to cost approximately 150 million crowns excluding VAT; according to Kopecký, the price will likely increase by the legally allowed increase of up to 20 percent. The ground floor of the passage will have shops, while offices will be on the upper floors. The new wing will offer apartments, and a restaurant that once existed there will return to the basement of the passage, which was later replaced by a civil defense warehouse. The company is already negotiating with interested parties for the rental of commercial spaces. "Some have approached us directly; we are now starting to work with a real estate agency and we will jointly look for additional tenants for both commercial spaces and apartments," Kopecký said.
