Rakovník - Rakovník has announced a tender for the construction of a community center worth more than 100 million crowns. It is to be created by renovating the buildings at the corner of Husova and Žižkova squares in the city center. Work is expected to start in winter and, according to the contract assignment, should last up to 21 months, as stated in the published draft agreement.

The price of the contract is almost 108 million crowns excluding VAT, and the city has set an upper limit for bids from companies that will compete for the contract. "The maximum value is set at 113.5 million crowns excluding VAT; this value is the highest allowable," states the tender assignment.

The spaces in the new community center will be used by the city library and information center, and various social, educational, and club events of the city will also be held there. The buildings are currently used by private companies and a school club. One of the houses will be demolished. The city library and information center are currently operating in rented premises.

This year's budget for Rakovník anticipates revenues of 360 million crowns and expenditures of 412 million, with the deficit being covered by surpluses from previous years. Last December, the council approved a 100 million crown loan, which the city may or may not utilize.
