Prague - The first outputs from the creation of the new urban plan, so-called metropolitan plan, should be ready by the end of March. At a meeting of the city council’s committee for urban development, Tomáš Ctibor, director of the Institute of Planning and Development of Prague (IPR), stated this. The IPR is preparing the metropolitan plan for the city.
"The preparation of design drawings is finishing up. We are entering the design phase, when the first drawings will be presented," Ctibor said at the meeting. They should be completely ready by March 31. Subsequently, IPR plans to hold a seminar on April 14 with representatives of individual city districts.
The metropolitan plan is primarily intended to address Prague as a whole, rather than as individual small areas. The capital consists of 57 city districts and 22 administrative areas. The new urban plan is intended to replace the plan approved in 2000. Unlike the old one, it defines urban locations. These identify specific areas and places within city districts that are protected from insensitive construction. For example, when an area is characterized as villa development, a panel building cannot be constructed there.
A second feature of the new plan is that it will be layered. The old plan strictly defined what could be built on a given area. The new one does not do that; it only characterizes the permissible load for the given area. The city also anticipates that a more detailed urban plan will be developed for selected locations.
