Pardubice - The preparation for the regional court in Pardubice has advanced to another phase. In the near future, the region and the city will purchase parcels for the construction of a judicial palace. The Ministry of Justice may begin the creation of the project documentation in September. By 2012, the region should have its own judicial complex. ČTK reported today, quoting the first deputy governor Roman Línek.
"I believe the deadline is realistic," he said. According to him, the preparation of the construction could take approximately a year, and if funds are available, the building could be completed in the next two to three years.
A location for the regional court was searched for several years, and a suitable site was eventually found on Na Spravedlnosti Street in front of the police building. The parcels that the region and the city are preparing for the state will cost just under 40 million crowns. Two-thirds will be covered by the region, and the remaining third will be paid by Pardubice. In return, the city and region will subsequently receive a parcel on U Stadionu Street, which currently houses a dilapidated shell of a sports hall.
"The center of the city will visually expand thanks to the construction of the regional court. It is a nice area that is well connected by transport," Línek stated.
In the planned judicial palace costing 600 million crowns, four institutions are expected to find their place - the regional and district court, and the regional and district public prosecutor's office. The branch of the regional court, which has been in Pardubice since 2003, is currently located in a rented building.
