Prague - Prague will pay 40 million crowns for project work related to the reconstruction and completion of the Industrial Palace at the Exhibition Grounds. Interested parties can apply to the competition until the end of April. This was discovered by ČTK from the public procurement bulletin. The Councilor for Culture, Jan Wolf (KDU-ČSL), previously stated in an interview with ČTK that the replica of the burned wing of the palace could begin construction in two years. The work will take a year and, including the project, will cost 600 million crowns. The building will be used for social events and as a congress hall. Prague has been addressing the situation at the Exhibition Grounds in Bubeneč, which is a protected monument, for several years. Therefore, in addition to the completion of the Industrial Palace, the city leadership is also planning a complete reconstruction of the complex. All work, including the completion of the palace, will total 1.5 billion crowns. The management company, Development Projects Prague, is working on a concept for repairs and further use of the once famous and frequently visited exhibition grounds, which according to the councilor is now in a catastrophic state. Some time ago, Prague freed itself from a long-term and, according to some opinions, disadvantageous lease agreement with the company Incheba. However, this company will hold some other events at the Exhibition Grounds until 2018. The city also rejected the original plans which estimated that the completion of the palace, which burned down in 2008, would cost three billion crowns. The Exhibition Grounds near Stromovka were created in 1891 on the occasion of the Jubilee Land Exhibition.
