Valašské Meziříčí – The preparatory works for the revitalization of the square have begun in Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region. The renovation of the square should be completed by August next year, requiring nearly 52 million crowns. Jakub Mikuš, a spokesman for the town hall, informed ČTK in a press release today.

"The project is divided into two years, with plans to invest over 18 million this year and the remaining amount next year," said Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO).

The square will have new surfaces, greenery, benches, and lighting, with a fountain and a drinking fountain being added. "The square will also be more accessible and safer for pedestrians. There will be relaxation zones with green islands, and restaurant gardens will have clearly defined areas. Our goal is for the square to continue to serve as a meeting place, host markets, cultural, and other events, and remain vibrant," said Deputy Mayor Yvona Wojaczková (ANO).

The square in Valašské Meziříčí is part of the urban conservation area. It was likely established along with the town in the second half of the 13th century. It is 110 meters long and approximately 60 meters wide.
