Brno - During this year's Museum Night, the functionalist villa Stiassni in Brno-Pisárky will also exceptionally open to the public. The seventh edition of this popular event, which attracts tens of thousands of people every year, will for the first time also include the National Theatre Brno. The theatre will open three of its buildings immediately after evening performances. On May 14, people can visit exhibitions for free in 30 buildings of museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions in Brno and the surrounding area, organizers told journalists today. Museums are preparing creative workshops, concerts, theater performances, and other events for nocturnal visitors. The goal is to present museums as open, fresh, and fun places. "We want Museum Night to become a significant impulse for people to visit cultural institutions on other days as well - not just on Museum Night," said Pavel Ciprian, director of the Museum of the City of Brno. Last year, Brno museums recorded 130,000 entries in a single May evening. This year's night will also be used by museum staff to gather opinions and feedback. Regular visitors have not been increasing in recent years despite the mass success of Museum Night. Museums want to know the reason. Participants can express their opinions during Museum Night either through a printed or electronic survey or directly in the open buildings. Accompanying programs in individual museums are mostly thematically related to current exhibitions. At the House of Lords from Kunštát, interested parties will again find the popular art fair this year. The Brno Cultural Center is preparing a showcase of dances from around the world and the opportunity to climb the tower of the Old Town Hall and enjoy the view of night Brno. For lovers of communication technologies and owners of "smart" phones, the museum staff is preparing the possibility of so-called "checking in." Using geolocation applications Foursquare and Gowalla, people can let their friends know via mobile phone which museum they are currently in and what they like there. The possibility of "checking in" will be available in all buildings during Museum Night. "Users will see where anyone is at the moment. At the same time, they can add photos and comments themselves," said the organizer of "checking in," Marek Lutonský. The detailed program of Brno's Museum Night, information about its organizational arrangements, and news from the preparations are published by the organizers on the website www.brnenskamuzejninoc.cz. Transportation around the city will be provided by special lines from the transport company.
