Račice-Pístovice - The reconstruction of the castle in Račice in the Vyškov region into a wellness hotel could start in 2019. It will require 80 to 100 million crowns and should be completed by 2021, Miroslav Pala said today on behalf of the e-Finance company to ČTK. Last year, the company purchased the unused castle from the South Moravian Region for about 27 million, and later opened a hostel in the forecourt.
"Currently, a building-historical survey is underway. We have had several studies done and are working on the optimal variant that would be functional and also meet the requirements of heritage conservationists," Pala stated. According to him, the company hopes to open the hotel by 2021.
The castle primarily consists of former classrooms and offices. In their place, guest rooms with a total capacity of up to 150 beds, conference rooms, and a relaxation area are to be created. The company also plans to include a sauna and swimming pools, as well as a multifunctional sports facility.
The company already repaired the forecourt last year, where it opened a tourist hostel with a capacity of 35 beds in the summer. According to Pala, it is performing very well and recently received the "Cyclists Welcome" certification. The company also laid a new water supply line about half a kilometer long and continues to work on improving the forecourt.
The complex previously served as a specialized vocational school and a children’s home. The last classes were held there from 2014 to 2015. Since then, the complex has been unused, and the education department of the regional office labeled it as unnecessary.
Originally a Gothic castle, it was reconstructed into a Renaissance chateau at the end of the 16th century, and a century later gained the appearance of an Empire residence. Before World War II, the castle became the seat of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak Army. It was later owned by the national enterprise Textile Industry in Prostějov, which used it as a recreational center for its employees.
