Brno - The building of the year in the South Moravian Region is the reconstruction of the historic Chlumecký Palace in the center of Brno or the new residential buildings in Brno - Jundrov. The awards were announced today by the organizers at the construction fairs in Brno. First place was awarded to seven buildings in the region.

"This year, we had 33 buildings in the competition. In the given year of the competition, we always award a building that was put into operation before the year," said Zdeněk Kotol from the Association of Entrepreneurs in Construction in the South Moravian Region to reporters today.
The winning Chlumecký Palace was long the most neglected building on the busy Česká street in the city center. Last April, Magnum completed its reconstruction. The investor's repairs, including acquiring the property, cost nearly 400 million crowns. This is approximately half the amount spent on the construction of the AZ Tower skyscraper, which is the highest building in the Czech Republic. The building now houses shops and apartments.
In the category of residential construction, the award was given to a group of family houses in Brno-Jundrov, which were built between 2011 and 2014 with a budget cost of 118 million crowns. The investor was the Moravian Construction - INVEST company. The Brno district of Jundrov is considered an attractive location for family houses. A smaller investment is also planned by Properity, which built the AZ Tower skyscraper.
In the category of civic amenities, the first prize went to an administrative building at Minská Street 85 in Brno and a parking house on Kopečná Street, whose investor is Brněnské komunikace. The jury was impressed by the pharmacy pavilion at the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University of Brno among industrial buildings. In engineering and transport constructions, the bridge in Pouzdřany in the Břeclav region took first place, and the jury also awarded first place to the costly reconstruction and completion of the sewerage system in Brno for 1.6 billion crowns. A special award was given to the reconstruction of the Löw-Beer Villa in Brno, which borders the Tugendhat Villa.
