Přelouč (Pardubice region) - The City Hall in Přelouč will soon reside in a single building. A new town hall was opened today in the city for nearly 96 million crowns, where officials from the current three buildings will move. The building was designed by architect Milan Košař. The modern five-story structure has a cuboid shape that surrounds a central atrium. The top floor is slanted and largely glazed. The building will replace spaces previously used by the city in the houses at Masaryk Square numbers 25 and 27 and in the premises of a private company. Renovating historic buildings would have been too costly, and the result would not have met the needs of a modern office, which is why the representatives decided on the construction of a completely new town hall on Československé armády Street not far from the center. The original budget for the construction rose from 83 to nearly 96 million crowns. "According to the city's requirements, the project was modified. A floor segment was added for the municipal police station, among other adjustments made to the area in front of the building," said Mayor Irena Burešová (ODS) to ČTK. The archaeological research also increased costs by two million. The city was unable to secure a grant for the construction and had to find funding from its own sources. "Since 2003, we have set aside extraordinary revenues from the sale of property and municipal forests," Burešová stated. Due to the office relocation, residents of Přelouč will have to arm themselves with patience. The town hall will be closed from February 16 to 21 and will only process urgent cases. The first known seat of the Přelouč town hall was in the former Renaissance Panský dům, built by the then owner of the city, Jan of Pernštejn, on the western side of the square around 1538. The town council likely acquired the house in 1562 as partial repayment of debts owed by Jaroslav of Pernštejn and established a very representative town hall for the time. Since then, it has relocated five times.
