Prague - Prague will reconstruct administrative buildings in the Emauzy complex, where some city departments and the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) are located. The reason is the poor condition of the buildings. This was decided today by the Prague councilors. The repairs are expected to cost between 250 and 300 million korunas. The city plans to obtain part of the funds from European grants. The buildings will be repaired as part of a project for energy modifications of municipal buildings. The administrative buildings in Emauzy were designed by architect Karel Prager. "The Emauzy administrative complex is in poor technical condition. If the reconstruction is not carried out, in the near future, the city hall would have to spend considerable funds from its budget to make the buildings usable," the document approved by the councilors states.
Last year, the city service department commissioned a study that estimated the repairs would amount to the aforementioned up to 300 million korunas. "The reconstruction included insulation of the façade and a cooling and heating system in such a way that the structural integrity of the building isn't compromised and the parameters of an intelligent building are met," the material states. If the city does not obtain funds from European grants, only part of the repairs would be carried out.
This year, Prague has identified more than twenty buildings that it wants to equip with so-called smart technologies. Among them are schools, theaters, and government buildings. The exact costs are not yet clear.
