Prague - The Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) will open a Center for Architecture this September at its headquarters in the Emauzy complex. It will host exhibitions and lectures, among other events. The completion of the space is expected in April, and over the summer, IPR will prepare a café and a library. This was announced today by IPR spokesman Marek Vácha. The cost of establishing the center is estimated at 14 million crowns. IPR is a municipal contribution organization responsible for urban planning, among other tasks.

"Finishing construction works and preparations for approval are currently underway, which will take place in mid-April. This will be followed by the installation of projection and other audiovisual equipment. During the summer, we will also prepare a café and bookstore, which will also open in September this year,"
Vácha said.

The center will feature an exhibition hall with large-scale projection, a study room, a café, an outdoor terrace, and a modern lecture hall, where public debates, presentations by domestic and foreign experts, workshops, and screenings will take place, among other events.

Visitors will get their first look at the center as early as May. "They will have the opportunity to peek inside during several selected events. The first is the Open House festival from May 13 to 14, followed by discussions, lectures, and film screenings. Over the summer, we will evaluate the testing phase and prepare for the official launch in September," Vácha stated.

To create the center, the institute received approximately 14 million crowns from the city, which will be used to modify both the indoor and outdoor spaces and to purchase equipment, especially exhibition lighting, projectors, or sound systems.

IPR was established through the transformation of the City Development Authority under the former mayor Tomáš Hudeček (then of TOP 09). The annual budget of IPR is approximately 300 million crowns.
