Prague - The district of Prague 7, which has been unsuccessfully trying to address the relocation of the town hall for several months, is once again searching for a property to purchase. The council today approved the announcement of a public call. They want to acquire a building for 500 million crowns excluding VAT, into which the town hall can move by the end of next year. The spokesman Martin Vokuš informed today.
The area of the offered offices is to be 5500 m². The price that Prague 7 is willing to pay must include any possible construction modifications. Interested parties can send their offers until the beginning of February, as stated in the text of the call.
The planned purchase of a new headquarters is accompanied by heated discussions and uncertainties. The city leadership initially wanted to invest up to one billion crowns. They had several offers, which the opposition labeled as unfavorable. And ultimately, residents rejected the proposal in a referendum, which was announced by the Supreme Administrative Court (NSS) despite the disagreement of coalition representatives from ODS and ČSSD.
The councilors last discussed the possibility of purchasing the former headquarters of the publisher Economia in Letná in October of last year. However, they decided not to pursue it because the government also expressed interest.
Prague 7's lease in the current headquarters on Captain Jaroš Embankment ends at the end of next year. The building is owned by the Ministry of Finance.
