Prague - The second part of Prague does not want a new bridge at Výton, according to the municipality, the construction would increase traffic intensity in the city center. Prague 2 also wants to reduce noise from the railway, which bothers residents living close to the tracks. The municipality raised these and other comments regarding the proposal of the Principles of Spatial Development for the capital city of Prague. Jiří Paluska (ODS), the representative of the mayor, said this to reporters today.

"We want a resolution for the connection between the left and right banks of the Vltava River with a bridge that would be between the Palacký Bridge and the Barrandov Bridge," said Paluska, adding that there is a long area without bridge crossing. "This concerns the variant of the bridge at Výton, we find this solution unsuitable," said the deputy mayor. According to the municipality, a new bridge would increase traffic intensity around Palacký Square.
The construction, according to Paluska, should be further upstream to distribute the load across the area. The bridge, which is to span the Vltava River from Jeremenková Street and connect to the underpass of the city ring road under the railway to Plzeň, is to be named Dvorecký. Prague 4 is also protesting against its existence.
"We also insist that the spatial plan helps us address the railway line from Wilson Station to Smíchov Station," said Paluska. The track disturbs residents' living conditions with noise. "It’s important that this is not forgotten and that it is defined and somehow addressed in the phases of the spatial plan," added Paluska. Prague 2 is also negotiating with Czech Railways about reducing noise pollution.
"Our citizens are asking us for discounts on rent or to refrain from increasing it due to the noise level in their locality," said deputy mayor Eva Paulová. However, according to her, this is a secondary solution. "The more important thing should be that the noise, which is extreme in Prague 2, will be reduced," added Paulová. The municipality does not rule out that in the next wave of rent increases, rents in these noisy areas will not rise to such an extent.
Prague 2 is also concerned about the development of certain zones. "Some development areas are being defined, such as Masaryk Station, Holešovice, Bubny-Zátory or Smíchov Station. Some centers should be created here, but there is not sufficient transport connected to it," said Paluska. The municipality is therefore afraid that the part of the city will be overwhelmed with cars in connection with construction. "We want the consequences of any potential additional traffic load in the center to be investigated," added Paluska.
