Plzeň - The second bus station will be built in Plzeň next to the main train station. The city hall has started preparing the land in the area between the intersection near the Tesco department store, the wall of the train station, and Hamburg, where the city court is located. This was reported by today's Právo in the regional supplement.

The smaller station should have a favorable position on the road to Prague. However, it would especially provide people with significantly better access to public transport than the current central bus station, which is two kilometers from the train station - opposite the main gate of Plzeň's Škodovka. "It would be important to link connections to trains and public transport lines, allowing passengers to transfer easily," said Deputy Mayor Petr Náhlík. The study anticipates a connection between the two stations through underpasses.
Currently, there is a provisional platform and a gathering area for day laborers from eastern countries at the planned construction site. The city wants to concentrate small stops from the nearby U Prazdroje street in this area, as well as from the paper park in Slovany. Those stops were established mainly for workers from Doudlevce, who no longer use them, Náhlík added.
The councilors are currently unable to estimate when the plan could take on more realistic outlines. The city administration has initiated the process of discussing changes to the zoning plan for the U Hamburku location. According to Náhlík, the discussion of the proposal will take about a year.
