Kladno – The design of the new Sítenský Bridge in Kladno will be completed by the end of the summer holidays. The bridge's appearance will be designed by architect Josef Pleskot. The design is expected to cost Kladno 920,000 crowns. Josef Pleskot and Kladno's mayor Dan Jiránek signed the contract on Monday, as reported today by the Czech News Agency in a press release by Kladno's spokesperson Lucie Steinerová.
"The Sítenský Bridge is a strategic point for transportation in Kladno; it is essential to start the work, there is no time to delay the solution, and I greatly appreciate the fact that it will be designed by one of the best Czech architects, Josef Pleskot," Jiránek said. According to him, the new bridge should serve its purpose for at least one hundred years.
The bridge is in poor technical condition, and Kladno's leadership is preparing to construct a new one in the coming years. The city approached Pleskot based on a decision by the councilors; he accepted the offer and will create an architectural-technical study.
"From today we are starting to work intensively; besides its transportation function, the Sítenský Bridge also has an urban-forming function, connecting important parts of the city, and also a landscape-forming one. I will demand high aesthetics from the design. The study will contain static, architectural, and transportation solutions, as well as a construction schedule and budget for the entire project," Pleskot said.
After the proposal is submitted, a tender will be launched for the project work, followed by the permitting process and contractor selection. "I expect that in three to five years we could have a new bridge in Kladno that will serve for at least a century,” said Jiránek.
