Kladno - Kladno has announced a tender for the repair of the Sítenský Bridge, which is in poor technical condition. The city is looking for a contractor that provides both design and construction in a single contract, a method known as Design and Build. The estimated value of the tender is 300 million crowns excluding VAT, according to its published specification. The bridge is an important traffic route in the city, connecting the center with the Sítná housing estate and part of Kročehlavy.

Typically, for large constructions, tenders are issued separately for the design and separately for the work. After consulting with a professional firm, Kladno chose a different approach. "We are tendering the whole thing at once," stated Mayor Milan Volf (Volba pro Kladno). The reason, among other things, is to save time, the responsibility of a single contractor, ensuring continuity of documentation, and the availability of technologies.

The city should sign a contract with the contractor this spring, after which there will be a ten-month period to create the project documentation, including the execution documentation and to obtain the necessary permits. The actual construction work will likely begin next year. The repaired bridge will have two traffic lanes in each direction and also a 3.5-meter wide sidewalk for pedestrians and cyclists in each direction.

The nearly 114-meter-long bridge over the Sítenské Valley, which is a natural urban park, was built between 1966 and 1967. According to a comprehensive technical assessment, its horizontal supporting structure requires demolition and new construction, and the outer supports also need to be replaced. In contrast, the lower structure of the bridge, specifically the four internal pillars, is in good condition. Therefore, last spring the city council decided that instead of the previously planned new bridge, reconstruction would be sufficient. According to current expectations, traffic will not be passable during the works.
