Písek - Písek has received a grant for the construction of a library and an education center, which will be created by converting the former school on Alšovo Square. The project costs 133 million crowns. The grant obtained from the Integrated Regional Operational Programme will cover 15 million crowns, with the city covering the remainder. This was stated today by Písek's Deputy Mayor Josef Knot (TOP 09).
"This is very good news. We managed to contract the expensive project very well at the beginning. Compared to the original estimates, we saved 20 million. This will be another significant saving of funds from the city budget," he stated.
According to Knot, the city is seeking other ways to reduce its financial contribution to the project. Therefore, they would like to apply for additional grants. "But I am not sure if we will be able to find a suitable title; in any case, we will try," Knot said.
The construction of the library and education center began last May. According to estimates, it will be completed this year, aided by the relatively mild winter so far. "Currently, work is being done on the roof, and the truss is being repaired. Elements affected by wood-destroying pests will be replaced with new ones, and then the installation of the roofing will follow. Inside the building, the electrical and plumbing systems are being finalized, and the walls are being plastered. Outside, in the courtyard area, the concrete foundation for the extension has begun," said Václav Filip from the Investment and Development Department of the city office.
