Prague - The financial group Penta has acquired a plot of land from the Czech Railways near Masaryk Railway Station. On the parcel, which it bought for more than 100 million crowns, Penta intends to build a hotel connected to the planned complex by architect Zaha Hadid. According to the Seznam Zprávy portal, which reported on the transaction today, Penta has removed the last property obstacle to the establishment of the first part of the project.
The change of ownership of the land located between the railway line, the main road, and Hybernská Street was registered in the land register this week. "We paid over 100 million crowns for the plot," said Pavel Streblov, Penta's director for commercial construction, to Seznam Zprávy.
The parcel, which currently serves, among other things, as a parking lot for postal vehicles, was purchased by Penta from the Czech Railways. Prior to that, the area was consolidated, including the purchase of part of the land from Czech Post.
Penta plans to build a hotel on the parcel that would connect Hybernská Street with Na Florenci Street via the planned roofing of the railway yard at Masaryk Railway Station, Seznam Zprávy reported.
On the brownfield site at Masaryk Railway Station, Penta plans to revitalize the current area with modern office buildings, shops, and restaurants, as well as a park, according to the project by architect Zaha Hadid. Previously, Penta owned the Florentinum office building in the city center. However, two years ago, it sold it along with other properties to the Chinese company CEFC for 7.6 billion crowns.
Penta is a Central European investment group founded in 1994. It operates primarily in healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and real estate development. It manages a single fund for its partners.
