Pelhřimov – Pelhřimov is looking for a contractor for the project of expanding the swimming complex. The city has allocated ten million crowns for the project. It should be completed within a year. The estimated construction costs are 300 million crowns. This was stated to ČTK by the city’s deputy mayor, Zdeněk Jaroš.

The aim of the reconstruction of the indoor pool and its extension is to expand the recreational area, build a toboggan, and an outdoor pool including a wading pool for children and modernize all technologies. "The contractor obviously has the option to propose some changes to us, but we are not changing our plans for now," Jaroš said. The city council introduced the plan to the public last year to incorporate their comments into the proposal. "There were some, but from my perspective, they mostly confirmed what we had already prepared," said Jaroš.

The project documentation, including the construction permit, is expected to be submitted in 2022. "And then it will depend on the finances, on possible grant titles for certain parts of it, when the construction will begin," Jaroš said. The city has not yet decided whether the reconstruction will take place even without subsidies.

The pool in the southern part of the city was built in 1989 as part of the so-called Action Z, when the residents of the city participated in the construction. It is part of the city sports complex, which includes a sports hall, a skate park, a football field, and a winter and athletics stadium.

The pool was later expanded with a recreational area and saunas. The last modifications to its building were made in 2015 when it was insulated. There is a grassy area adjacent to the swimming complex where people can sunbathe, but there is no outdoor pool. The pool is also used by a swimming club, which, according to Jaroš, has around 180 members.

Třebíč is also planning modifications to its swimming complex. It commissioned a proposal for the outdoor swimming pool Polanka. Until the end of March, it is accepting comments from citizens on the proposal. The goal is to modernize the complex, adjust the pools, which should be heated, and the facilities, including a relaxation zone and a children's playground. According to the spokesperson for the Třebíč city hall, Irini Martakidis, the costs of the modifications have not yet been determined. They will arise from the project that the city will have developed this year.

The swimming complex was built about 45 years ago near the Jihlava River in an area where river baths operated since the early 20th century. The complex also includes wooden two-story changing cabins designed by architect Bohuslav Fuchs, which are protected as national heritage. They served the river baths since 1934.
