Olomouc - The Olomouc representatives approved several amendments to the zoning plan during their meeting today, which will allow the construction of family houses in various parts of the city. The city hall will continue to expand residential areas in the coming years. It is planning further adjustments to the zoning plan, which could allow, for example, the first satellite settlement of family houses to be developed in Olomouc. "Our goal is to increase the number of locations where construction will be possible and thus prevent a decrease in the number of residents in the city. Sometimes this is not successful because the Agricultural Land Fund refuses to give consent for construction on arable land. People end up building in surrounding municipalities, where it surprisingly is allowed,” said Mayor Martin Novotný today to ČTK. Today, the representatives decided on changes to the zoning plan in favor of residential construction in the city districts of Černovír, Chválkovice, Topolany, and Holice. Most of the changes pertained to the construction of individual family houses. "However, the representatives simultaneously approved the intention to make a series of amendments to the zoning plan, which would allow for the construction of dozens of family and apartment houses, for example, by developing the first satellite settlement within the territory of Olomouc,” the mayor stated. According to him, the new residential construction in the regional capital will be financed by the private sector. The city hall does not plan to invest in it. "We do not have good experiences with the construction of apartment buildings using state subsidies. The rent for these apartments is around 5000 crowns. People can acquire the same apartment themselves with a mortgage, whereby the payment is the same as the rent. The construction will primarily be provided by development companies,” clarified Novotný. In the Olomouc Region, the number of completed apartments increased year-on-year in the first nine months of the year. Builders completed 746 apartments. Last year, statisticians reported a number that was 91 lower. However, construction companies started fewer apartments in the region than in the comparable period last year. The number of apartments started in the first nine months of the year reached 1280. A year earlier, there were 1376.
