Olomouc - The Olomouc City Hall will begin selling parcels in the summer that are designated for the construction of family and apartment houses. The land covering a total area of more than 32 hectares will be offered to people and development companies. This was announced today by Mayor Martin Novotný. Olomouc has been struggling with a shortage of parcels for some time, causing many people to leave the city and build in its surroundings. The parcels that the city will sell vary in size. Some are suitable for the construction of one to three family houses, while others could accommodate apartment buildings, according to the mayor. Larger areas will be offered to companies, while smaller ones will be available to individual builders. "At this moment, it is not possible to say how many households could obtain housing due to the sale of parcels. It will depend on the developers, namely whether they will use the areas for building family houses or apartment buildings," the mayor stated. He added that the city would offer companies nearly 30 hectares, while about 2.5 hectares would be available to individuals. The parcels intended for sale are located in all parts of the city. The largest areas are in the location of Pražská near the outgoing road to Mohelnice and above Okružní Street in the district of Nová Ulice. The city hall will sell the parcels differently depending on their size. "Specifically, a decision has not yet been made on that. However, it is expected that for larger areas we will announce tenders. For smaller ones, the highest offered price will likely decide," the mayor indicated. According to his deputy Hana Tesařová, people will find the offer of parcels on the official bulletin board. The city management originally identified about 42 hectares of land for sale. After evaluating the locations, the expert committee recommended that the city management sell ten hectares less. On these plots, there are obstacles to housing development, such as lack of access. The leadership of the Olomouc City Hall intends to continue selling land for residential construction in the future. Recently, it initiated the process of changing the zoning plan, which would expand the number of areas designated for housing in the city.
