Mariánské Lázně - No interested party responded to the published intention to sell the town hall building in Mariánské Lázně. By publishing the intention, the city wanted to find out whether the building could be utilized if the municipal office relocated. Jiří Šrámek, the secretary of the Mariánské Lázně municipal office, said this to ČTK today.
The town hall building is in poor condition, and some offices had to be closed. Beams are infested with wood rot, and the trusses are also deteriorating. The city estimates the cost of renovating the building at more than 200 million crowns. "If we do not find any interested party or utilization, I am in favor of the town hall being repaired. Building a new administrative center would definitely be easier. But leaving an empty, deteriorating object here would be very irresponsible," said the mayor of Mariánské Lázně, Petr Třešňák (Pirates).
Even if the city decided to renovate, it would have to solve where to temporarily relocate some offices. "Currently, we are considering some options for where the officials could be moved. However, there are not many suitable spaces in Mariánské Lázně. One of the options was, for example, the train station, but those spaces are not prepared and would also require a significant investment," Šrámek said. Additionally, the city would have to pay rent there, and with a renovation period of around five years, it would mean additional expenses for the city budget.
Another option would be to adapt an unused municipal building, Villa Taormina, for office purposes. However, its problem is poor accessibility by public transport and insufficient parking options. "The Slovan building near the ice rink is still a possibility. The last option is the area of the former Bytov, right next to Kaufland. All these options entail further investments," the secretary added.
The problem with the town hall building on Ruská Street is, besides its poor condition, the difficult accessibility and lack of parking spaces. If a utilization could be found for it, the city planned to construct a new administrative center, which would also concentrate other institutions alongside the municipal office.
