Prague - The most fairy-tale-like and simultaneously the most popular castle in the Czech Republic has become the castle in Telč. In the third year of the nationwide poll organized by the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ), 3463 people cast their votes for it. Historic Telč is a frequent subject of interest for filmmakers. It served as the backdrop for perhaps the most beloved Czech film fairy tale, The Proud Princess. Films such as How Princesses Wake Up, The Magic Purse, and From Hell with Happiness, as well as the series About Lost Love, were also filmed there. Telč secured the top position already in the first year of the poll in 2007. The voting elevated last year's winner - the castle in Hradec nad Moravicí in the Opava region - to second place, with 3334 votes. The castle of Raduň, also from Opava region, finished in third place. It received 1371 votes from supporters. The NPÚ informed ČTK about this today. The winning Telč castle is among the gems of Moravian Renaissance architecture. According to local managers, its allure is enhanced by the fact that, thanks to the owners' sensitive approach to the heritage of the past, the original interiors have been preserved in very good condition. Many of them are representative examples of the impact of Italian art on Czech territory, or its transformations in the region north of the Alps.
