Náměšť n.O. (Třebíčsko) - Lovers of monuments should no longer get lost in Náměšť nad Oslavou in the Třebíč region starting today. As part of the Cultural Promenade project, the city today opened a route that will guide visitors through all important cultural and technical monuments in Náměšť. In addition to directional signs, there are information boards at 13 monuments regarding the castle, the historic bridge, the textile manufactory, and other points of interest, Mayor Vladimír Měrka told reporters.

The route measures about 3.5 kilometers. Tourists will also have an informational brochure with a map at their disposal. The town hall also launched a city information system today, which will help visitors navigate Náměšť by means of directional signs to individual streets and other destinations.
The costs for the Cultural Promenade and the information system amount to 1.8 million crowns. "It was funded by the company ČEZ as part of its regional support program," Měrka said.
According to the mayor, the purpose of the Cultural Promenade is to keep tourists in Náměšť as long as possible and show them everything the city has to offer. "Few visitors to the castle, for example, make it to the reconstructed Empire-style tomb of the noble Haugwitz family," he added.
A point of interest for technically inclined tourists will be the so-called Schulz filters in the area of the under-construction wastewater treatment plant, according to Měrka. The filtration system consists of several eight-meter-high cylinders with a diameter of about three meters filled with crushed stone. It has been in use since 1956. "It is a European rarity; besides Náměšť, there are the same filters in one other English town," Měrka added.
Today also saw the launch of furniture along the Mlynářská cycling route leading through the Náměšť region. The route runs from Nové Město na Moravě to the Austrian town of Hardeg. At 22 stops, benches and tables with shelters, bike racks, and wooden trash cans will begin to serve cyclists. At 11 locations in the municipalities of the microregion and in Dukovany in the Třebíč region, information boards are placed.
