Prague - A multi-genre cultural space called New Spiral will open today at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, which will continue from the Spiral theater that was closed in 2002 after severe floods. Due to significant damage, there was consideration of demolishing it at that time. The centerpiece of the new circular hall, which has a capacity of 800 seats, is two rotating telescopic stages. The New Spiral offers space for drama, musicals, modern circus, opera, sports or light shows, or video mapping performances.

Artists enter the stage directly among the audience from the auditorium. There is now a small stage available for smaller music, theater, and other artistic performances or corporate events with a capacity of up to 340 spectators.

The program at the New Spiral will begin with a musical show titled Resurrection. The performance will feature world hits performed by a live orchestra, directed by Karel Hrivňák, along with acrobats, video mapping, and a light show in a unique circular space. Fifty performers will take to the stage. In addition to seven melodies from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, hits by Adele, Madonna, Imagine Dragons, Robbie Williams, and other global stars will be performed, along with compositions by the holder of the Czech Lion award for music, Kryštof Marek.

The Spiral Theater was created as part of the preparations for the annual General Exhibition in 1991 by converting an earlier circular cinema with panoramic projection into the inner surface of a cylindrical hall from the 1970s. After the floods in 2002, only the structural and steel framework of the original building remained. A significant change is the addition of modern stage technologies in both the large and small halls. Acoustic elements have been restored throughout the building, taking into account the preservation of the building as a monument.

The New Spiral is accessible for people with disabilities and has restrooms equipped with a motorized platform for disabled viewers. The same platform provides access to the small hall for immobile spectators. In the large hall, there are designated spaces for wheelchair users in the parterre.
