In Podhůří near Chrudim, a recreational area is being developed by E-mrak

Chrudim - The natural recreational area near Chrudim will be expanded at the summit of Podhůra. Currently, visitors enjoy the Bára lookout tower or the rope center, and soon more attractions will be added. The city is now preparing to build an original covered fire pit. Camping will continue to be possible in the forests near Chrudim. This was said today by the Deputy Mayor of Chrudim, Roman Málek.
"There is great interest in the area from both the residents of Chrudim and tourists. The fire pit, which is part of long-term plans, will enhance the options for visitors. Last year, camping was possible at Podhůra, and it should be the same this year," said Málek.
The original fire pit will be built, just like the Bára lookout tower, by the E-mrak studio of architect Martin Rajniš. The fire pit will harmonize with the lookout tower, which is a kind of "puzzle" made of wood, held together by a durable system of ropes and pulleys. The structure of the covered fire pit will be based on a similar system, with a dome above it. "A recreational area in nature is an excellent idea. The fire pit will blend with the landscape, utilizing modern building methods, and will harmonize with the nearby lookout tower," said Rajniš.
Visitors to the area will again have the opportunity this year to stay overnight in a so-called emergency campsite at the edge of the Podhůra forests with a view of Chrudim. "The emergency campsite is actually approved, with a designated and fenced area for pitching tents, located near the parking lot by the former restaurant Kometa. Anyone who wants can come, set up a tent, and spend the night near the Bára lookout tower. Free of charge," stated Roman Málek.
The campsite is not a campground, and different rules apply there. Fires are not allowed, toilets are accessible at the nearby Bára lookout tower, and visitors must take away all their waste. Last year, the campsite operated without issues and was in demand. The city hopes this will also be the case this year.
The Bára lookout tower has a tumultuous history. The original lookout tower was destroyed by a powerful storm just shortly after it opened in June 2008. The city had it rebuilt, this time with a reinforced structure that can withstand the wind. The observation platform is about 15 meters above the ground, and no entrance fee is required.
The lookout tower is a unique wooden structure with minimal connecting elements. The larch boards were gradually assembled by carpenters along the perimeter of the tapering pyramid, with spacers made from battens placed between them, and secured to the ground by a system of anchoring cables. Inside the building, there is a cylindrical staircase made of oak planks.
