Brno - On Friday, September 7th at 1 PM, the construction of a unique passive house for seniors in Modřice will be ceremonially launched. According to the plan, the first residents will be able to move into the house as early as October next year. The interest, far beyond just local seniors, has exceeded all expectations. As of today, 117 applications for placement have already been received.
The ceremonial opening will be attended by: the Governor of the South Moravian Region, JUDr. Michal Hašek, Deputy of SFŽP ČR, Mgr. Tomáš Podivínský, mayors of neighboring and affiliated municipalities, companies and architects involved in the construction, and others.
The construction will be symbolically blessed by the spiritual administrator of the parish, Father Robert Mayer.
The passive residential building for seniors is tailored to the needs of older people who may have limited mobility but are self-sufficient. Each highly comfortable apartment, of which there will be a total of 41, will have its own sanitary facilities, kitchenette, terrace, or balcony. The grounds of the house will also feature a communal garden and a pond, among other amenities.
"It is not expected that the house will operate in the mode of providing social services. However, within the rent, which will be around 6,000 CZK per month, the city will offer assistance to seniors in the form of laundry and ironing, cleaning of apartments and shared spaces, and arranging small purchases or pickups," explains the Deputy Mayor of Modřice, Ing. Hana Chybíková.
The creators of the architectural design and project documentation for this house, which is completely unique in the Czech context, are renowned Czech architects Aleš Brotánek and Josef Smola. The construction of the house will require investments of 64 million CZK. The city of Modřice has received support of 8.3 million CZK for this project from the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic. It then had to take a loan of a total of 45 million CZK.
