Kladno

Kladno - The modernization of the Kladno bus station is expected to be completed within two years. The city has included the costs for finishing the project in the planned budget for this year, which amounts to several million crowns, and is applying for grants. Kladno's Mayor Milan Volf (Volba pro Kladno) told ČTK. Work is set to begin at the earliest by the end of this year.

The Kladno bus station was built in the 1970s for the needs of the Poldi steelworks in the location of a former park. It is oversized by today's standards, outdated, and lacks the necessary facilities.

Last year, the city evaluated an architectural competition, and the upcoming project is based on the competition submissions. There should also be a parking lot for cars and a bike storage facility. Because Kladno wants to use European grants for the modernization, a condition is that the work must be completed by the end of 2018. "It can be done in time," the mayor stated.

Originally, the city wanted to coordinate the modernization of the station with the repair of General Klapálek Street, which is a regional road; however, due to grant conditions, the work on the station will begin independently of the repairs of one of the main central roads in Kladno planned for the coming year.
