Instead of a development project, there will be a school in Letná for now

Prague - In three villas in Prague's Letná, where a developer plans to construct an administrative center in the future, a prestigious school could temporarily be established. The investor, Lordship, has requested a positive opinion from the Prague 6 urban development commission. And they received approval. However, the city district does not agree with the request for the demolition of adjacent buildings located at the entrance of the Blanka tunnel, as reported by ČTK from the commission's resolution.
    Lordship wants to temporarily create facilities for Riverside School Prague in the buildings on Milady Horákové Street. This is likely until construction of the Letná office park project can begin, which has been under EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) review since last year. According to the original plan, the developer intends to demolish all five villas. Office buildings are to be constructed in their place.
    Vaclav Matoušek, the director of Lordship, told ČTK that he is negotiating with a potential tenant regarding the school. "It will depend on whether we can meet his conditions, including the demolition of two adjacent villas that are in a state of emergency and would jeopardize the safety of children," he stated. According to him, the company has requested a demolition permit. What will happen next with the Letná office park project is unclear. Discussions are ongoing regarding its future appearance and size. "We want to collaborate with the school operator in any case," he noted.
    According to the EIA documentation, the building will have five above-ground and five underground floors. Lordship plans to complete it in 2018.
    Other development projects are also planned in the attractive Letná area. Another office building is to be constructed as part of the reconstruction of the Sparta Stadium. Prague 6 and Prague 7 announced last year that they do not support the project. The city hall and non-profit organizations emphasize that it is necessary to develop an urban concept for the undeveloped area of Letenské pláň.
