Prague – The goal of the initiative "zachrantevily.cz" is to save the devastated villas in Buben and on Milada Horáková Street and to preserve the character of the entire heritage-protected zone of the traditional villa district. The public will be introduced to the initiative this evening at the Roškota and Kočí's villas, and the event will culminate in videomapping projected onto the devastated villas. The initiative is backed by Prague 6 councilors Ondřej Chrást and Miloš Vlach, councilor of the Capital City of Prague Aneta Heidlová (all Pirates), and IT specialist Vojtěch Tatra.

"With our initiative, we want to force the political representation in Prague 6 to act and hold the ruthless developer accountable for his actions, which mar the genius loci of Prague's Bubenč and the entire city. It is simply not possible for buildings in the center of one of Prague's wealthiest districts to decay for 20 years, posing a danger to passersby, while the owner laughs in a tax haven waiting for them to fall on someone’s head," stated the founder of the initiative Ondřej Chrást.

The villas were purchased over 20 years ago by the British developer Lordship. The condition of the historic buildings, which are located next to a railway track on one side and the busy Milada Horáková Street on the other, has been addressed for several years. The investor has come up with several proposals for new construction, including one large building, and also presented a project involving a set of five buildings designed by various architects. According to Heidlová, this oversized office project would significantly disrupt the entire extensive traditional villa district admired worldwide.

The initiative has created a petition in both electronic and paper form, along with Facebook and Instagram pages, and is preparing several public events. The first is today’s videomapping at the mentioned villas. It aims to summarize the history of Kočí's villa in a free yet engaging way, and at one point will also depict the villa, at least one of its sides, in the form it might have had shortly after it was built. "We will also be broadcasting the presentation online on the Facebook page Save the Villas," added Vlach.
