Přerov - The interior of the historic City House in Přerov from 1897 will change in the coming years. The new operator, chosen by the Přerov city councilors, will take care of it. Starting in 2019, it will be the local Hotel Jana, operated by the Prague company LH Hotels. The contract between both parties was signed on Tuesday and is valid for five years, the city hall spokesperson Lenka Chalupová informed ČTK today. The City House, including its restaurant, has so far been managed by the Cultural and Informational Services of the City of Přerov.

The new tenant will pay for energy, and the rent will be a symbolic amount of one hundred crowns per month. However, the tenant has committed to purchase kitchen equipment at a cost of 1.5 million crowns and to renovate the restaurant and café for five million crowns. "We expect new wallpapers, lighting, chairs, tables, a bar, cabinets, mirrors, small tables, flooring, and tiles. Therefore, it will be necessary to close the City House for a certain period in 2019. The exact date has not yet been determined," said Pavel Čada from Hotel Jana.

The new operator wants to aesthetically bring the City House in Přerov closer to brewery restaurants or establishments like Potrefená husa, which are popular among clients. A new food and drink menu will be introduced, and the opening hours will also be adjusted in accordance with evening cultural events in the house. "All existing employees from the City House restaurant will transition to the new operator," added the city hall spokesperson.

The Cultural and Informational Services of the City of Přerov have operated the restaurant in the City House since 2014; before that, it was managed by the company IMIT. However, the restaurant generated an annual loss of around 1.5 million crowns. For this reason, the city searched for a new operator. The cultural program will still be under the auspices of the Cultural and Informational Services of the City of Přerov.

The City House has stood in Masaryk Square since 1897 and is one of the largest and most significant restaurant and cultural facilities in the city, hosting theaters, concerts, and balls. The architecturally significant building has been owned by Přerov since 1909 and offers guests 80 seats in the restaurant, 20 in the lounge, and 30 in the café, with the hall accommodating 410 visitors and an additional 120 standing places on the balcony.
