Přerov - The historic City Hall in Přerov, located in TGM Square, will receive further investment. This will involve new air technology and heating to replace the current aging technology. The public contract worth approximately 17.4 million crowns was approved today by the Přerov city councilors. The city aims to obtain a subsidy from the modernization fund of the Ministry of the Environment, Deputy Mayor Vladimír Lichnovský (ANO) said today to the councilors. The city would like to start replacing the air technology and installing heating by the end of this year.

The modern system is expected to include air technology with recuperation, meaning heat recovery. A complete reconstruction of the existing heating system will also be performed in the building, which is a cultural monument. According to city hall representatives, the current technology is already at the edge of usability, is outdated, and energy-intensive. "This is something really necessary, it is an emergency situation. We have committed to continuously invest in the repair of the City Hall, because it would catch up with us sooner or later anyway," said Deputy Lichnovský to the councilors.

According to him, the project has been in preparation for a longer time, and the city wants to utilize a new grant title from the modernization fund of the ministry. "We can submit the application until June, and we are currently working on the energy assessment. We expect that, based on the competition, we could start implementation in June or July and finish in October or November of this year," Lichnovský added.

The Art Nouveau building, which is a cultural monument and the center of cultural events in the city, has undergone many interior modifications in the past. The largest renovations occurred in the 30s and 80s of the last century. The construction work focused not only on the layout adjustments of the interior spaces but also on maintenance work, the installation of new networks, and ensuring the building's statics. In 2017, the City Hall received new windows, and four years later, experts replaced oak flooring in the large hall and foyer and renovated the flooring on the stage and in the small hall. Modern stage lighting was also installed here.

The historic City Hall has stood in Masaryk Square since 1897 and is one of the largest and most significant dining and cultural venues in the city. It hosts theater performances, concerts, and balls. It is an architecturally significant building owned by Přerov. It offers guests 80 seats in the restaurant, 20 in the lounge, and 30 in the café, while the hall is designed for 410 visitors, with 120 standing places on the balcony.
