Municipal architect invites you to an open house after a year of operation

On July 1, 2016, city architect Michal Sedláček took over the offices on Zelný trh. They were empty. Unfurnished and without employees. In the first year, the office team grew to nineteen people, who now invite you to an Open House on July 10, 2017. You will get to know not only the city architect but also his team and the spaces where they work.

In the Brno city architect's office, experts work in a total of five departments. Each of them has specific tasks and addresses current issues concerning Brno and its residents. The Public Space Department is actively working on a public space manual, has announced three architectural competitions, and is collaborating on the preparation of further projects. The zoning plan and the situation around it are major topics for the Information about the City Department and the Urban Planning Department. This issue is very important and fundamental for the people of Brno. "Last week, the municipal council approved the Vision for Spatial Development of the City, which KAM has been working on in recent months. The vision includes suggestions that emerged from joint discussions. They will now be published in printed form and made available to the public. They will also be available electronically on our website,” said Michal Sedláček.

KAM regularly communicates with citizens and seeks to clarify the situation regarding urban planning and the resolution of public spaces. In May and June, Michal Sedláček, along with his team, traveled through the city districts. A regular and popular event organized by KAM is walks with the city architect, which take interested parties to unusual places in Brno with the author of the building, project, complex, or public space. KAM has built a unified visual style in its year of operation, launched a website, and commenced operations on social networks.

The city architect's office has prepared an Open House for the general public. At ten o'clock in the morning on July 10, it will open its gates at the very heart of Brno, on Zelný trh. You will pass through glass doors, rise up a spiral staircase (or by elevator) to the third floor, and find yourself in a place where architects and other city experts work. New ideas are generated here, current issues are resolved, and discussions are held on topics that move the city. The Open House will take place during the normal operation of the office, and the communication department staff will attend to you. Every hour there will be a short presentation of the office's activities. An active workshop on the zoning plan will be prepared for you, you will learn more about the competitions being held, you can debate with the present team members, and walk through all the office spaces. The event will last from 10 AM to 5 PM.
