Prague - The Prague districts are arguing with the capital city about what the new urban plan will look like. They have comments on its concept, which they often insist on despite the opposition from the city. For example, Prague 2 and 5 would like another car bridge over the Vltava River to be built in the Dvorce area. Řeporyje do not want a recycling center to be established in their area. Troja, on the other hand, wants the planned construction in Bubny to be height-regulated. This week, the city council dealt with the comments, and next week the council will decide on them.

The districts sent around 60 essential comments to Prague, many of which concern major transportation projects. As in the past, for instance, Běchovice, Dolní Chabry, and Suchdol disagree with the route of the outer Prague ring road. Lysolaje and Nebušice reject the expansion of Václav Havel Airport in Ruzyně. According to materials discussed by the council this week, the city recommends rejecting most of the comments.
The second and fifth districts demand that a new car bridge be built in the Dvorce area between Podolí and Braník. They promise it would alleviate the traffic that flows over Jiráskův bridge, Žitná, Ječná, and Resslova street. "Prague 2 disagrees with the fact that the concept overlooks the necessity to address the local road bridge connection between Prague 4 and Prague 5 in the area between Vyšehrad and Barrandov Bridge as close to the center as possible," stated Prague 2 in its comment.
Although the capital city has examined the bridge's location at this point, it only considered a connection that would serve public transport, cyclists, and pedestrians. According to the metropolis, using the bridge for cars would divert traffic from the Southern Connector and burden Jeremenková street. Prague 4 had previously disagreed with the use of the bridge for cars. Therefore, the metropolis is currently not considering the bridge.
On the contrary, the fourth district demands that the city prepare a study on a possible tram connection between Podolí waterfront and Pankrác. However, the capital city does not agree to this. "The tram line would primarily have significance in connection with the bridge towards the Vltava, which, however, is not desirable between Podolí and Smíchov south of Vyšehrad," claims the city.
Similarly, the capital city does not want to accommodate the request from the Troja borough, which requests modifications to the height regulation in nearby Bubny. Extensive construction is planned for this area in the future. The comment from Řeporyje is likely to be rejected as well, as they do not want a recycling center in their area because they fear an increase in freight traffic. The opinion of representatives of Ďáblice is also unlikely to be heard, as they do not want any further expansion of the local landfill, unlike their neighbors from Březiněves.
The comments are expected to be decided on by the councilors on November 3. The city leadership anticipates that representatives from the districts and the public will attend the meeting, causing the council session to extend into the evening hours.
