Majáles Picnic at the Golden Bridge in České Budějovice

Architecture student Barbora Jandová has decided to organize a PICNIC on the Golden Bridge by the South Bohemian Theatre as part of her long-term project “Dinner in Unusual Places”. The event will be part of the Budějovický Majáles, in collaboration with the CBArchitecture project and the House of Art in České Budějovice.

The goal of the event is to draw attention to alternative ways of using public space and to present the blog CBArchitecture to a broader audience. This blog is currently the only platform dedicated to the issues of modern architecture and urbanism in our city in the long term. During the event, you can discuss with the authors of this blog. The target group consists mainly of citizens of the city with an active interest in their surroundings, who are willing to advocate for their interests if they receive relevant information.

The concept is based on placing a grass carpet measuring 58m² on the roadway of the Golden Bridge and a subsequent picnic with an open discussion about public space. The size of the carpet is based on the area allotted per “Budějčák” according to the public space registry. Theoretically, this delineates our common property, for which we, as citizens, should be responsible.

PS. Refreshments will be provided, but of course, we do not prohibit anyone from bringing their own picnic basket filled with fresh and tasty items to create competition for our snack catering :)
