The drawing of lots before the construction of the hall in Vary will be verified by the notary chamber

Karlovy Vary - The drawing, from which the winner of the selection procedure for the construction of a new multifunctional hall in Karlovy Vary emerged, will be discussed today by the presidium of the Notary Chamber in Plzeň. If the members of the presidium conclude that Karlovy Vary notary Lenka Machová violated the law, the chamber may point out the error. In the case of a serious violation of duties, it can propose the initiation of disciplinary proceedings. This is stated by today's Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD) in the regional supplement.
   Chamber President Josef Burda told MfD that he wants to see the notarial record as well as the entire file. He explained that the chamber cannot order a repetition of the drawing. The protocol video from the draw for the billion-dollar contract has already been viewed by five million viewers in the Czech Republic and around the world. People are laughing at how the drawer awkwardly rummaged in the drawing container for a full 32 seconds under the supervision of the notary, which caused laughter in the inserted cards. In the end, he pulled out the card that belonged to the consortium of companies Syner, Metrostav, and Baustav. He pulled out the other participants in the tender much faster.
   In April 2006, a recording was shown at a meeting of councilors by opposition councilor Jiří Kotek at the end of last year. However, for today's meeting of the notary chamber, which was initiated by its president, the video recording is not important, let alone decisive. "I will not be concerned with what someone edited on some video; it is not significant to me," stated Burda.
   Notary Machová did not want to revisit the drawing or comment on the upcoming meeting of the regional notary chamber. MfD wanted to ask the notary, among other things, why she did not interrupt the draw when she saw how long it took for the drawer to pull out the last ticket. A possible reason was given by Liberec notary Marcela Fianová. "In general, the task of the notary is to certify what happened. I would certify the order of the drawn companies and how long it took to pull out the last drawn," she noted.
   The magistrate chose the company Stormen for the drawing. They explained the long delay by a technical problem. The drawer reportedly had to separate the tickets that had stuck together due to stamp ink.
