Litovel (Olomouc Region) - The leadership of Litovel in the Olomouc Region has decided to establish an external position of city architect. For this role, they have selected Milan Obenaus, who performs the same function in the nearby town of Uničov. The architect will prepare opinions and statements on urban studies, investment projects, and building proposals that could significantly contribute to the appearance of the city, said Deputy Mayor Petr Šrůtek (ČSSD) today to ČTK. "We have already consulted some matters with the architect. For a fee, he will produce expert opinions on specific buildings," said Šrůtek. The architect can contribute to a unified visual style for the city. Anyone interested in building, renovating, reconstructing, modifying a facade, or otherwise altering the appearance of a property should consult their intentions with the construction department. The department will determine whether the intention needs to be assessed by the city architect. "If it is necessary to assess the intention, the contact for the architect will be provided, or a consultation will be arranged," Šrůtek added. Obenaus has served as an external city architect in Uničov since 2007. "Results cannot be expected immediately, but in the long term, it is certainly beneficial. The city architect contributes to a unified character of buildings in the city, avoiding a hodgepodge. He advises not only the city but can also be approached by private builders," stated the Deputy Mayor of Uničov, Jarmila Kaprálová (KDU-ČSL). The city architect also works, for example, at the Prerov City Hall. In Olomouc, there is no independent position of city architect established. The issue is addressed by the Department of Planning and Development. The position does not exist in Prostějov either.
