Olomouc - The councilors in Uničov in the Olomouc region have established the position of city architect. They expect expert opinions on new investment construction plans or the reconstruction of the city core. Until now, the town hall has collaborated sporadically with various experts, but considers a contract with a city architect to be a better solution, said Uničov's deputy mayor Dalibor Horák today in an interview with ČTK. "The city has several development areas where construction is planned. We are also preparing the reconstruction of the city center. We want to prevent some plans from being contrary to the interests of the city from an architectural point of view," stated Horák. The council appointed Milan Obenau as the city architect, with whom they have collaborated in the past. He is, among other things, the author of the project to adapt the former museum into the town hall, the reconstruction of the gallery in the former cloister of the monastery church, and the future shape of Masaryk Square and the surrounding streets in the historic center of Uničov. "I am pleased with the decision of the councilors. I am glad that the town hall cares about the appearance of the city. Uničov is a smaller town and a unified visual style can be achieved," Obenaus told ČTK. He emphasized that he will provide advisory services to the city but will not have decision-making powers. The city architect also works at the Přerov town hall, for instance. In Olomouc, a separate position of city architect has not been established. This issue is addressed by the Department of Concepts and Development.
